Expressions of Interest are now open for fully funded registration and travel to the 2026 Branch Conference, being held in Alice Springs on 14-15 August.
Branch Conference is our highest decision-making forum: members debate motions, set policy, and shape the direction of our union.
All members who wish to attend must submit an EOI so we can arrange travel, accommodation, and release from duties on your behalf.
Deadline: Tuesday 16 June 2026
Submit by this date to allow time for Branch Executive to assess applications and for our team to make travel arrangements before end of term. Late EOIs may not be able to be accommodated.
Who should submit an EOI?
You should submit an EOI if you are:
Planning to nominate as a Conference Delegate:
Delegates are financial members elected through the AEC to represent their sub-branch at Conference, with full voting rights.
If you are planning to nominate as a Conference Delegate in the supplementary AEC election, please complete both:
1. This EOI: so we can arrange travel and accommodation
2. Your AEC nomination form: so you can be elected
These are two separate processes. The EOI does not nominate you, and being elected does not guarantee funded travel.
Learn more about the supplementary election
Conference Delegate (elected in Term 1):
The first round of Conference Delegate elections was conducted by the AEC in Semester 1. Members who were successfully elected should have been notified directly. Please submit this EOI to confirm your attendance and allow us to arrange your travel. If you are no longer able to attend, contact us as soon as possible so we can talk you through appointing a proxy.
Branch Executive Members:
Branch Executive members hold a voting position at Branch Conference as part of their role. They should submit this EOI to confirm your attendance. Note: This does not include sub-branch or regional council executive members who need to be elected to a sub-branch delegate position to hold a vote or apply to attend as an observer.
Interested in attending as an Observer:
Observers attend without voting rights but can participate in networking, caucuses, and may be granted permission to speak in debate. This is a great option if you’d like to attend alongside your sub-branch’s elected delegates.
Not sure:
That’s fine! Submit now and we’ll be in touch.
How are places allocated?
Positions are limited. Branch Executive will consider EOIs and the AEU team will contact successful applicants directly to arrange travel, accommodation, and release for the Friday (plus any necessary travel days).
We especially encourage Aboriginal members to apply. We have dedicated funding to support attendance for Aboriginal observers.
Priority for funding will be given to:
1. Delegates elected in Term 1
2. Aboriginal members
3. Members nominating for a Conference Delegate position in the supplementary AEC election (9 June to 7 July)
Branch Executive will make every effort to support the attendance of all elected delegates. Where timing, availability, or funding constraints apply, alternative participation options may be offered. Submitting an EOI by the deadline gives us the best chance of securing your funded, in-person attendance.
How does motion submission work?
Want to shape the decisions made at Branch Conference? Motions are now open for submission. Any financial member or sub-branch can submit a motion for debate.
