Please note: there are multiple elections currently taking place.
What are these elections for?
These are ‘Insufficient nominations’ elections for Executive Councillor offices for the remainder of a two year term of office 2026 – 2027. Any current financial member including ALL groups of educators can stand to be on the AEU NT Executive for these Regional Councillor roles nominated by two other financial members. These are important roles where you have the opportunity to represent the members in your region, further the union’s policy aims and participate in governance, planning and organising activities. Please read the guidance around the nomination process carefully, also noting the timelines listed.
What does being a Branch Executive Councillor involve?
The time commitment needed for being on Branch Executive consists of ten days throughout the year in face to face meetings, (these are each of two days’ duration and include the two days of our annual Branch Conference). In addition, there are eight or nine half day online meetings over the year. The AEU NT has standing arrangements with the DET to have leave approved for Executive meetings and this is not deducted from any of your other types of leave. Travel and other expenses are covered if you usually work in a remote or regional community.
The election process once nominations are finalised.
The electorate for these elections will be eligible Darwin and Top End region AEU NT members.
