2026 Branch Conference: EOI for Funded Attendance

Expressions of Interest are now open for fully-funded travel and attendance for conference delegates and observers at the 2026 Branch Conference, to be held in Alice Springs on 14-15 August. The AEU will fully fund attendance at Branch Conference for a limited number of applicants, including travel and accommodation where required. All members who wish to attend must submit an EOI so we can make these arrangements on your behalf. Elected Conference Delegates will receive priority for funding, but should still complete the EOI so we have your details.

Branch Conference is our highest decision-making forum: members debate motions, set policy, and shape the direction of our union. We’re asking all interested members to submit an EOI, whether you are an elected delegate, planning to nominate in the supplementary election, or would like to attend as an observer.

Who should submit an EOI?

You should submit an EOI if you are:

  • a Conference Delegate elected in Term 1
  • a Potential Conference Delegate nominating in the supplementary election (9 June to 7 July)
  • a Branch Executive Member (President, Secretary, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer, Women’s Officer, Aboriginal Officer, or Executive Councillor). This refers to the NT Branch Executive only, not sub-branch or regional executives.
  • an Observer who would like to attend without voting rights but participate in networking, caucuses, and Conference activities
  • Not sure: that’s fine! Submit your EOI now and we’ll be in touch

Funding priorities

Priority for funded positions will be given to:

  • Delegates elected in Term 1
  • Aboriginal member observers
  • Members nominating for a Conference delegate position in the supplementary AEC election (9 June to 7 July)

Nominating as a delegate?

If you are planning to nominate as a Conference Delegate in the supplementary AEC election, please complete both:

  1. This EOI: so we can arrange travel and accommodation
  2. Your AEC nomination form: so you can be elected

These are two separate processes. The EOI does not nominate you, and being elected does not guarantee funded travel without an EOI.

Deadline

Submit your EOI by Friday 12 June to allow time for Branch Executive to assess applications and for our team to make travel arrangements before end of term.

Why the deadline? We need to book flights, accommodation, and arrange release from classes ahead of vendor deadlines and the school holidays. Late EOIs may not be able to be accommodated.

Submit your EOI

The form takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.

What happens after I submit?

Branch Executive will consider all EOIs after the deadline. Successful applicants will be contacted directly by the AEU NT team to confirm arrangements. If you are not selected, you will also be notified.

Please note: submitting an EOI does not guarantee a place at Conference or funded travel.
