Who should attend?
This Conference is for AEU women from preschools, schools, and TAFE. It is a feminist event, inclusive of all women working in public education.
AEU women have a proud history of building strong union structures and cultures for women. When AEU women come together, we are a powerful force for change.
The theme for the 2026 AEU Federal Women’s Conference is: “Feminist Futures: Education in a Changing World.” The conference will highlight topics such as technology and safety, considering the impacts and implications of change for school leaders, teachers and educators. The conference will also launch AEU-funded research with Monash University on the impact of misogyny in public schools — highlighting how online “manosphere” environments impact young men and boys, and the challenges this creates for school leaders, teachers and educators.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to:
- make connections within their branches, sectors, and across the AEU
- build knowledge and skills to make impact
- contribute directly to the AEU’s work addressing misogyny in schools — with a focus on safe and respectful workplaces
The AEU Federal Women’s Conference is open to AEU women members only.
The delegates funded by the AEU Federal Office are:
- the Women’s Officer
- up to 2 other delegates nominated by the Branch or Associated Body, where at least one is a woman who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
How to submit an Expression of Interest
Please send an Expression of Interest to Rachael Metcalfe at secretary@aeunt.org.au which demonstrates your commitment to the union and how you hope to transfer your learnings back to your local workplace and sub-branch. EOIs open on 18 June and close on 22 July.
