Business handshake at office meeting.

Dear Members,

We are proud to announce the completion of negotiations for the 2024–2027 Northern Territory Public Sector Educators’ Enterprise Agreement, which brings numerous improvements to your working conditions, pay, and professional support. These hard-won gains reflect your feedback and priorities, and we urge you to VOTE YES to secure these important changes.

Some of the Key Improvements in the New Agreement:

•  Wage Increases: A 4.3% wage increase, which exceeds the Darwin CPI, ensuring real wage growth. Further pay rises in January 2026 and January 2027 will continue to outpace inflation, securing a stronger financial future for all educators.

•  Classification Restructures: Significant improvements through classification restructures for Aboriginal Team Teachers and Classroom Teachers, ensuring pay is better aligned with experience and qualifications.

•  Non-Contact Time: Increased non-contact time for preschool, primary, and special education teachers in 2026 and 2027, providing more time for planning and reducing overall workloads.

•  Remote Incentives: Expanded travel support and maintained remote locality provisions to improve the recruitment and retention of educators in remote areas. Modest increases to remote retention payments were also secured.

•  Emergency Leave: An increase from two to three days of Emergency Leave, giving you more flexibility to manage unexpected personal situations.

•  TOIL for School-Based Corporate Staff: Office-based staff will now earn Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) for every 12 days worked in schools, providing greater flexibility and recognition for their efforts.

•  Fairer Disciplinary Processes: A new clause clearly outlining disciplinary proceedings, ensuring transparency, fairness, and the right to representation.

•  Wellbeing and Support: Enhanced access to Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and mental health resources, prioritising teacher wellbeing and providing better support systems.

These improvements, many of which align directly with the goals in our Log of Claims, represent a strong step forward for educators in the Northern Territory.
