Sub-branches are advised to make an early start in registering Delegates and proposing motions for our upcoming annual Branch Conference.
The Conference will take place in Darwin at the Double Tree Hilton on the Esplanade on the May Day weekend (5&6 May). Each AEU sub-branch (workplace) is entitled to elect at least one Delegate, whose costs to attend Conference are met by the union.
Sub-Branches may also put forward motions to be considered by Conference. The deadline to register Delegates and to put forward motions is Friday 23 March.
Last year was one of the most successful Conferences in our Branch’s history, with 92 elected Delegates and members of Executive attending. We would like to make this year’s just as successful. With teacher bargaining still underway, the Conference is likely to be an important opportunity to discuss the state of play and to consider whether to endorse an offer from the Government or to consider taking action to seek improvements.
We also plan to discuss the future of education in the Territory and how we can improve education outcomes for students. Stay tuned for some guest speaker announcements in coming weeks.
Registration is simple: your sub-branch needs to hold a meeting and elect Delegates, and then fill out and return the registration form below. The registration form also contains more information on the Conference.
