Update from Melody O’Meara (AEU NT Women’s Officer)
We are currently seeking EOI’s for delegates for the 2023 AEU Federal Women’s Conference to be held in Canberra on 3-5 September.
This year’s Federal Women’s Conference will join the AEU National Public Education Campaign Lobbying Event. AEU women have a proud history of building strong union structures and cultures for women. The AEU has led the struggle for women’s rights at work by winning industrial entitlements that support women’s care and cultural obligations. When AEU women come together, we are a powerful force for change. The 2023 AEU Federal Women’s Conference will bring women together to recommit and build on this legacy.
This event is for AEU women from preschools, schools, and TAFE. It is a feminist event, inclusive of all women working in public education. Women who identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander (ATSI), women of colour, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), women of diverse sexual orientation, women with disabilities, young women and older women are encouraged to put themselves forward to participate in this event. No political lobbying experience is required. Support will be provided to assist delegates to prepare for active participation in this lobbying event.
We are pleased to announce that the AEU NT will fund an additional 2 women delegates (from any sector of our membership) to go with the 5 federally funded delegates comprising:
– The Women’s Officer
– One TAFE delegate
– One additional delegate nominated/endorsed by our Branch Executive
– Two Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander delegates
Please consider submitting an EOI to attend this year’s AEU Federal Women’s Conference + AEU National Public Education Campaign Lobbying Event in Canberra from September 3-5. I realise you are on school holidays enjoying a well-earned break so the deadline for EOIs is Friday July 21 (end Week 1). If you happen to be able to submit it sooner though, please do. It is not first in, best dressed – each EOI will be considered on its merits and a shortlist created after the July 21 deadline.
To submit your EOI, please complete this short survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AEUFWC2023 by Friday July 21 (end Week 1, Term 3)
